Traditional quad skates (two wheels in the front, two in the back) are included with your ticket. You may upgrade to inlines/hockey skates for $2 or Speed Skates for $2 if you prefer to skate in those.
We have never been to Silver Wings. What should we expect if we come to a skating session?
You can definitely expect to have a lot of fun at Silver Wings! All of our skating sessions include a variety of games that are suitable for all levels of skaters. Most matinee sessions include a skating lesson.
With COVID going on, do we need to make reservations to come skate?
Not at all! We have plenty of space during our skating sessions and would love to have you and your family.
Do you have an arcade?
Yes! Our game room is filled with lots of fun games – air hockey, pool and redemption games (and you win actual tickets to redeem for prizes when you play our games)
Do we have to wear a mask to come to Silver Wings?
You are not required to wear a mask when coming to Silver Wings. If you feel more comfortable wearing one, feel free to do so.
I am bringing my kids but do not plan on skating. Do I need to purchase a ticket to enter?
During our matinee session, only skaters need to purchase tickets. During our Friday night session, parents do not have to purchase a ticket but everyone else must purchase a ticket for admission.
What age do you think kids can start skating?
If kids can run, they can skate! Our “real” skates start as small as size 6 toddler in addition, we have plastic strap on skates that are easy for kids to put on and off.
We haven’t had lunch. Can I bring in food?
We do not allow outside food or drinks to be brought in but we have a delicious assortment of food available from our Snack Bar including, burgers, pizza, nacho, nuggets, fries, soda, candy and more. If your entire family is hungry, you may want to consider ordering a large pizza to share for $18.
My kids don’t know how to skate and I do not know how to teach them. What should we do?
Just about all of our matinee sessions includes a beginners skate lesson. We highly encourage new and unsteady skaters to participate in the lesson – it takes about 5-10 minutes. If you miss the lesson, you can ask a Floor Guard (the Silver Wings employee on the floor) for tips. If you want more help, we also have Skate Mates available for rent for $5.
What is a Skate Mate? How do I get one?
Skate Mates are walker style skate helpers that new/unsteady skaters may rent for $5. They help build confidence and turn unsteady skaters into good skaters. The person renting a Skate Mate will wear arm band for the duration of the rental. When the Skate Mate and the arm band are returned, you will get a $1 refund.
It is my child’s birthday, can we bring in a cake?
We do not allow outside food or drinks but if you have a birthday party scheduled with us, you may bring in a cake. You can get more information or book your party here (insert link to party page). Without a reservation, you are NOT allowed to bring in a cake.
Can we bring our own skates?
Absolutely! If your skates have a black heel stop, we will need to cover it with duct tape to protect our floors.
The Skate Car looks awesome. Can you give my child a ride in it? Please?
The Skate Car IS awesome! All of our birthday kids get to ride in it- if your child would like to ride in it, book a birthday party at Silver Wings and we will take them for a ride!
What kind of rules do you have at Silver Wings?
We want everyone to have a fun and safe time when at Silver Wings so we do not have a ton of rules. Our most important rules are focused on safety:
- Do not carry children if you have skates on.
- No food or drinks are allowed on the skate floor.
- Listen and follow the directions of Silver Staff.
How are Friday nights different than regular sessions?
Our Friday skate sessions are fast and fun sessions. They are very popular for Middle School and older aged kids and we have more rules on this night for their safety. Everyone under the age of 18 must buy a ticket to enter and sign our Skaters Code of Conduct form. If kids are not sitting at a table, they must wear skates (no running around), we do not allow “sagging” pants or midriff shirts (we do not want to see your tummy), no going outside unless you ride is there to pick you up, no attitudes, no fighting – we will call your momma if you cannot follow these rules.
